Hannah Givler: Affects Illustrated: The Wind in the Grid
November 9 – December 21, 2014
Reception for the Artist:
Sunday, November 9, 3:00 – 6:00 P.M.
Acknowledging an uncharted present, Affects Illustrated explores architecture and social systems of alterity in lived experience.
Hannah Givler’s sculptural practice engages architecture through site-specific installation. At 4th Ward Project Space she employs existing elements of the space to amplify dynamics of interiority, permeability and projection. Her artistic research also attends to materialism, fictional utopias, city planning and song; and her resulting sculptures build onto a lineage of projects that consider the emotional and social stakes related to our physical systems.
Hannah Givler is a Chicago-based artist. She holds an MFA in Fiber and Material Studies from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and currently teaches in the Department of Visual Arts at the University of Chicago.
